Yeah, they probably deserve to be emulated properly with their specific technical limitations, knobs, buttons and their occasional status LCD displays. Having 3D models with a display texture would be more with the times than image overlays, though. ;P

There's a whole untamed world of monitor diversity out there. I even knew of somebody with a monitor that displayed certain small resolutions really tiny instead of stretching them out to fill the screen. Not that this would ever become a priority or anything since HLSL can simulate the "standard" stuff, of course.


Regarding which monitor would be compatible with which device, I don't know how MAME does this kind of things, but I guess it could be handled by having a list of connector types and just allowing those that physically fit? Although this could be done with anything other than monitors, including game cartridges...

The "MK font" likely was some commercial font; that was around the era when fonts in games started coming from Adobe instead of game company artists.

Yeah the wet dream would be 3d models of everything, with wires hooked up and a VR headset so you can interact with them.

Ideally you'd just add hardware to a desktop and it would either auto plug in, or you could select what to plug where. So if you could add two pc's and hook them up with a null modem cable.

You should talk to this FSanches guy. He seems to want to get there now, not ten years from now, regardless of whether it ends up looking like 1990's VRML. Orrrr maybe you shouldn't. wink

I want to get there now, too. I also have a Vive headset, a PC good enough to handle it, and an Android VR headset. I intend to work on making it happen in my spare time.

has manuals, pics and binaries for the NCR PC4i (thanks, Fritz!), an IBM compatible PC built into the NCR DMV's case. I've added the BIOS to the PC driver and created a pull request. At the moment the machine boots, but the keyboard doesn't work. The graphics adapter that supports CGA and almost, but not quite EGA would have to be emulated as a seperate ISA card.

While rummaging around in pc.cpp I found that the Commodore PC-1 BIOS was marked as a bad dump, so I re-dumped it with my current Eprommer.

It's not doing anything at the moment, probably because this cute little all-in-one machine with no ISA slots has too many differences from a bog standard PC.

V4.35 of the Commodore PC10-III BIOS was marked as NO_DUMP but is actually available

Judging from the plain text inside the file, 4.35 seems legit but doesn't work with the PC10-III driver.
