I was using a self compiled mame 185 on ubuntu 16.04 and I was trying to load carts from the software list.
However, after selecting a cart in the softlist and hitting enter, it crashes mame (actually it doesn't crash, but it won't respond to any user input) and I have to kill it by going to the terminal window where I've launched it and hitting ctrl-backslash. Note that ubuntu doesn't crash, just the mame program seems to stop.
Strangely, it seems to depend on how I launch mame:
./mame64 coco2 -cart megabug
The first version without any cart specified will crash when selecting megabug (or any other cartridge entry) from the softlist.
The second version will run megabug, and if I go into the softlist and select a cart it will reset and there is no crash.
coco, coco2 and coco3 will hang.
