Hey guys,

Am noticing for all the PCs, virtually everything after an IBM 5160 (XT) is basically marked as preliminary, does not work... It seems to at least, work in a rudimentary fashion, what's left to bring it out of preliminary state?

I imagine it's a confidence thing, especially given the number of plug-in devices that really are preliminary.

Device flags are going to improve this somewhat - it will be possible for MAME to say whether the selected slot configuration is preliminary. But I have to catch up on real life before I can implement that.

For PC / ISA all the common cards are pretty well trusted at this point. Carl would know why the driver is flagged that way.

Yes, I also agree with you.

I also can't understand why non working ibm5170 is added on mess.

Are there known major problems with EGA? I'm getting results suggesting it doesn't display the correct colors.

EGA definitely shows the ugly 16 colors I expect on e.g. Sierra AGI games. There are some known VGA issues (e.g. colors in Ultima VII) but EGA should be clean.

Huh. Now that's bad. It looks like I'm getting consistently more green in my output than I should. Perhaps other EGA problems I saw are also related to this, and it's really a problem on my end, rather than mame specific game bugs. Agi King's Quest IV looks like that with EGA for me:

It's setting attribute palette entry 15 to 0x17 which is green, it should be 0x3f. It appears to think it's VGA because it sets DAC entry 0x17 to white in VGA mode. I'm not familiar enough with EGA to be sure why.
