The problem you're talking about is that 5.25 40 track floppies in 80 track drives don't properly skip every other track. Justin is using a 40 track disk in a 40 track drive. It looks like the issue is that diskcopy is not detecting the total number of tracks properly.

OK, I found another master diskette dump at http://www.retroprograms.com/IBMPC/pc1.html which does work through the whole DISKCOPY process:

It calls ROM BASIC later in the process so you have to use e.g. ibm5150 instead of a generic or clone PC.

Teledisk tries to read as many tracks on the disk you're imaging as possible so it can catch copy protections that are on superfluous tracks. Depending on the drive, a 40 track disk might actually contain 42 tracks, and Teledisk will try to read them, even if they are just residual nonsense from manufactoring or a previous use of the disk.

It would be interesting to see what happens if you write the disk with the errors back to physical media and then re-dump with ImageDisk using the proper parameters.

Schneider EuroPC Game Card

Nothing to dump here, but this came with a EuroPC, and it's Schneider branded.

I downloaded the same image, but can't get it to work. I quickly see the first command of AUTOEXEC.BAT: "mode 40,r", and then it shows "Disk error reading drive A".

I tried directly with the td0 file, and I also tried converting it first into IMG format. The file size of the IMG is correct (40*8*512 bytes), but it still shows the above error.
I wonder if the driver expects 9 sectors per track? How would I fix this?

EDIT: It works with BIOS Revision 2 or older. Revisions 3 and 4 (default) show the disk read error. It's entirely possible that this would also have happened on the real hardware: Maybe IBM removed support for the old 8 sectors per track formatted floppies.

I asked a guy with a Compaq Portable 386 to dump the ROM of his machine, which he did using http://www.navsoft.cz/products.htm.
That dump shows proper x86 procedure, starting from FFFF0, jump to F0000, machine comes up but shows a 101 ROM error

Having tested John Elliott's SaveROM http://www.seasip.info/DOS/index.html from within the Compaq Portable III emulation in MAME, I recommended this to him, resulting in a second dump that differs from his first dump only in the address for that first jump, landing it in the weeds.

Is there anything I can suggest to him short of physically dumping the ROMs?

The rom error one fails the checksum. It's possible that the rom is shadowed and something is writing to the rom region. It might work better he can make sure that any rom shadowing is disabled or if there's a program to dump from the high rom mapping at 0xfffff000 which is unlikely to be shadowed.

I found a Commodore PC10-III board with BIOS rev. 4.35c ... it doesn't POST like the 4.35 that's already in. Maybe the pictures in the archive and on the FTP will help find out why.

Found a doc for the faraday 2010 https://github.com/skiselev/micro_8088/blob/master/Documentation/Faraday-XT_Controller-FE2010.pdf. The dips that are usually connected to the 8255 are handled in software (but only on the pc10iii).
