I cant seem to get the rompath to work in the ini file.

My rompath is roms;chds;bios

Setting this from the command line with -rompath "roms;chds;bios" works, but trying to set this in the ini file doesn't seem to work.

This is what my .ini file looks like:
Code:
#
# PATH AND DIRECTORY OPTIONS
#
rompath roms;chds;bios
samplepath samples
inipath $HOME/.mame;.;ini

Well, I've since moved my mame64.ini file into my $HOME/.mame/ directory and set a $MAME environment variable in my $HOME/.bash_profile and set my rompath to $MAME/roms;$MAME/chds;$MAME/bios and this works for me, so I'm cool. Not sure why it wasn't working before.

Where can I download SDLMESS?

No idea on the rom path, my .ini file has:

rompath /nfs/roms/mame;/nfs/roms/mame_chd

SDLMESS doesn't exist. Yet :-)

Perhaps it wasnt working when I had rompath=roms;chds;bios because those directories were actually softlinks. When I switched to using $MAME/roms;$MAME/chds;$MAME/bios it worked. Anyway, this problem is no longer an issue for me, but might want to test out a rompath that points to softlinks just to make sure.
