ok everyone, i am extremely new to nestopia and know nothing about it. i am wondering if i can somehow use my playstation 3 controller while playing games on the computer with nestopia. i have dual shock wireless controllers. if it is possible what do you need to do to set it up. and if not does anybody have any other controller options that work well. i dont like using the keyboard and am looking for something that resembles the old nintendo controller feel. thanks for the help.

The details depend on what system you're using NEStopia on (Windows, Linux, or Mac) but yes it's possible to use PS3 controllers.

Instructions on how to install the driver are here. We obviously don't/can't support that procedure here, but if you do it successfully and the controller shows up in the control panel you should be good to go as far as NEStopia.

Go into Options and Input Options. Click on the Type (Pad 1 most likely) then the Set All button. As you press buttons on the controller, they will be mapped to the controller.

First of all sorry for the bump...

And now for the reason I bumped it, What if when you have installed the controller on your PC and it works, but it doesn't work for nestopia?

Is there something I have to do to get it to work with nestopia?

I'm having the same sort of problem. I've got a wired Xbox360 controller that I use for my SNES emu. I just can't seem to get it to register for Nestopia. I did as Cheshire said, but when it asked me to press a button for Left nothing registered.

I'm using Nestopia v1.39

I just got the joystick to work.... I restarted Nestopia and went back to the input options and it had recognized the controller and allowed me to change the inputs with no problems.
