For the other macII systems with on board video can it be made so if you add a nubus video card that you can just have a display on the nubus card and not use the on board video? Like how it works on a real system?

That would involve deleting a screen at runtime, I don't know how to do that or if it would work (Micko?)

about not using the build-in slot,

the man I know who is still using a Mac IIci, only use the add-on nubus card (the one for his radius) and it looks like the build in card is disabled. Not sure of what it means, but I'll look into that today.

either, not using the internal slot is a feature on real hardware (I hope so), or the Radius card is not a "normal" graphic card and still internally uses the built-in card in some way.

of course I only talk about how real hardware reacts, I don't know if mess do the same yet.

You're misunderstanding; I'm aware that the internal video is disabled if the monitor ID is %111 (ie, nothing plugged in), but as far as I'm aware it's not possible in MESS to actually delete the screen. So I could make it not output video on the internal screen easily but there'd be a dead black screen hanging around then, and I'm pretty sure that's not what this guy wants.

btw, if you find a solution for this, let me know. the 3d glasses for sms would be much nicer if you would not have to manually change the Video View when you plug in the glasses

What's it like in the universe where .lay files don't exist and the user can't be defaulted to an N-screen setup and be able to select an alternate 1-scrfeen layout from the Tab menu?

What's wrong with the Tab menu?

It's the same universe where the user can then have 4 video cards in the slots and expects them to work automatically without showing the disabled built-in video: ie, not possible with the current core.

Also the same universe where e.g. Kega handles the 3D glasses properly automatically, no Tab key needed.

the only missing thing for sms is actually being able to choose the View depending on some parameter at loading time, so that the softlist can simply select the proper view, with people capable of changing afterwards if they don't like it.

anyway, in the meanwhile the HD list will already make life easier to people which want to test these computers without having to go through the installation smile

You *can* automatically change the view at runtime now, that's the point of e.g. Curt Coder's rotation support in the ABCDEFGHIJKL.

runtime of course yes (in the TAB>Video menu), but also at loading time? if so, I have to check new progresses...
