This works now! SVN r3287.

Thanks for the idea, The Flying Ape... it wasn't very hard to do, but it took me a while to find out how to make the icons display transparently smile.

Good night!

David Ely has created an updated QMC2 build for Mac OS X:

I've compiled the latest and set up a place where I will occasionally post builds.

Right now, I have 0.34 and r3287 posted there.

Here's a screenshot of how the (X11-only) embedder displays the icons in the tab-headers:

The first 'traffic-light' icon represents the current emulator status (running = green, paused = yellow, stopped = red, unknown = gray) -- this was already available before. The second icon right of it is the game/machine icon.

Kaylee: Use the right OS and you have it smile! However, I still plan to add a similar implementation to the Windows port... but it's a serious hack. To give it the same features as on UNIX/Linux, I first have add support for 'notifiers' on Windows, too.

Anna: wer hat, der hat smile (sorry, also German)

I guess it is really not a easy task.

It wasn't easy on X11 either given that (SDL)MAME/MESS is no real XEmbed client.

Well, with SDL at least it shouldn't be too tricky on Windows since there is this (infamous) SDL_WINDOWID hack, but I want a more general solution, esp. something that works with "standard" MAME/MESS builds.

(EDIT: some prerequisites are already done, though, since I needed them for variant-launching anyway... see windows_tools.*)
