I don't hate the users. it's just that support for this is still missing and I haven't found any solution to link an item in a list, with an item in another list.

it would be of use for saturn too, but until we find a solution, it's still not a bug wink

@max_holz: QMC2 and MESS can't do this automatically (the reason has been explained by etabeta78), but you should still be able to mount the cart together with the cdrom manually. Just expand the cart and cdrom soft-list entries in question (click on the + symbols in front of them) and select the mount devices you want to use instead of "auto-mount".

I've now added this to qmc2.pro explicitly (QMAKESPEC = macx-xcode) for Mac OS X. Had another user reporting this with Qt 4.8 on Lion.

THis is odd, w/ my daily build of QMC2 today it can no longer find the softlists in my c:\mess\hash directory.

I've tried to clear all emulator caches. The log contains items like this:
18:19:46.181: WARNING: software list 'gameboy' not found
18:19:46.181: WARNING: software list 'gbcolor' not found
18:19:47.630: WARNING: software list 'gba' not found
18:21:32.453: WARNING: software list 'gamegear' not found
18:22:11.122: checking template configuration map against selected emulator
18:22:11.149: done (checking template configuration map against selected emulator)
18:22:11.150: check results: 0 differences

Any hints? Thanks -

@John IV: I can't reproduce this here with MESS SVN r13699, but my local working copy of QMC2 includes a number of uncommitted changes since I'm waiting for a MESS update before I can test and finally commit them... so it's not exactly the same version as the SVN head-revision, but I doubt that it's related.

Try running "mess -listsoftware" directly from the command line... does it work correctly / list all soft-lists completely / crash?

EDIT: please post the complete log next time... maybe these are aftereffects of a previous error.

I just tested the latest software-list related changes (QMC2 SVN r3383 / MESS SVN r13701) on Windows 7 x64 using MinGW GCC and can confirm that it works fine.

Hi, 'mess -listsoftare' produces its huge output, no crashes. Here are the log results from the first run in the morning of QMC2 after its been clean built at ~7am PST.

BTW - I've asked this before but never saw the answer. Where can I tell QMC2 to just use ./mess.ini and not its internal configuration?

And you've specified the correct 'hashpath' in the global emulator options, right?! I've no idea at the moment what else could be causing it...

Regarding mess.ini... when ini\mess.ini is part of the working directory (cwd) and 'readconfig' is true (the default), it will be used. As long as you don't change any settings within QMC2, only mess.ini will be used.

Make sure to set the working directory of the emulator correctly. It makes things a lot easier and should also help with the above since the cwd might not be what you expect. See Tools -> Options -> Emulator -> Files / Directories -> Working directory.

Thanks, I just went ahead and purged my user/.qmc2 directory and let it rebuild and got them back.

Regarding the working directory setting, I have MESS split onto an SSD and an HD for all the software storage. What does the working directory expect to have in it?

Also out of curiosity, is there a way to export or save off your system favorites before doing that?
