A good place to search for Linux packages for different distributions also is pkgs.org:
MAME MESS (pkgs.org search -- includes packages for Mandriva I couldn't find otherwise, BTW smile )

Couldn't have put it better. smile

this is a nice idea, I know for instance VLC also maintains a list of distro binary packages

concerning mess for ubuntu: as ubuntu creates binaries every 6 months from all what's available in debian, there should be no need to create a package ( see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebianImportFreeze )

I would like to add the list:
NetBSD and pkgsrc:
Mame
Mess

OpenBSD:
Mame

OpenBSD has mess, but in version 0.132 so I think it is not worth to mention here.

Edit Reason: clarify debian import freeze

Yes, but a lot of people who try out and/or use Ubuntu would like up to date MAME/MESS. A lot can happen in 6 months smile

Just found out that PC-BSD has a QMC2 package (or PBI) since a few weeks/months, and this apparently comes with current versions of MAME and MESS, installable through their AppCafe tool.

There's also a separate MAME package, but no separate MESS package (AFAICT).

OS X is a BSD right? wink

I didn't want to make a new thread, but I'm wondering if you could update the link to my site on your blog RB.

parodius.com goes down soon and I think they have already stopped forwarding clicks from my old site to my new one.

Anyway, the new url is http://sdlmame.lngn.net/

Is that so? End of an era, perhaps.

Ya, the news was quite shocking. Having been a member there since the 90s I knew this day would come but it was still shocking when Jeremy announced it. So much history with sites on that domain, in reality though, most of the sites had been abandoned years ago...

End of an era, indeed.
