I've updated the archive with the PCB pictures and the re-dumped ROMs.

Alright. And the AP4 card really connects to the keyboard? It looks more like a parallel printer interface, and being in slot 1 kind of goes along with that too. I'd expect the keyboard to connect to that socket next to the char ROM with the ribbon cable plugged into it.

I think you're right ... I don't have the original keyboard and was actually scrounging for a matching one when things went up in smoke.

Cute - they hflip the char ROM compared to real hardware. (At least, I assume this isn't some sort of "faux Russian" kind of joke ;-)

Looks cool ... but on the real thing the characters are the right way around ... it's just that I can't prove it frown

Right, it's a minor hardware change so they can claim their ROMs aren't a copy I think smile

Are those letters from the character ROM on the mainboard or from the video card?

Mainboard. I haven't cloned their cards yet.

I'm risking to appear as the computer equivalent of the crazy cat lady here, but I think I'm in good company grin

I had another Apple II clone mainboard lying around, it has the Z80 integrated on the mainboard ... but nothing ROM like appears there. The video card bundled with it is the now familiar AP16 from IBS, but it has an EPROM in the socket that's empty on the one from the SPACE84 clone.

Unknown Apple II clone

So I fear that board's useless without the proper ROM daughter card.

You're doing awesome, it's kind of an embarrassment of riches with all these dumps and documentation smile

Anyway, the empty socket on the AP16 would be the alternate character font given that it's a straight Videx Videoterm clone. The font rom on the AP16 in your Space 84 is a mostly-match for Videx's official German language one, so probably this alternate one will be English or Spanish or something.
