urgh... the U and the first half of the M together look like a badly broken W... The different colors in one letter make it look strange IMHO. Maybe the M could get a color gradient?

how about: MUNCHIES (Multiple Universal Non-trivial Computer Hardware Intelligent Emulator System)

I'd take that over the existing logos any day. (Seriously, I have a long-standing dislike of the MAME logo; MESS would do well to go its own way there and not try to imitate that look.)

FWIW the *only* thing I'm going to post in this thread is the following.

I still see UME as more of a temporary measure, I think the momentum of the projects will die out fairly soon anyway (with the MESS side still being the more active) and the combined build will just end up being the main build anyway, under the regular MAME name because it's the established trademark, and more widely known brand (you never see anybody talking about MESS boxes.)

MAME as it stands would just be distributed as Classic Mame (or similar) with only the arcade stuff, and possibly even with the various fruit machines stripped out, because people seem to hate them so much.

MESS could become Classic MESS or just remain as MESS for people who really only care about the home stuff.

They're both just sub-projects of the combined entity in reality anyway.

That's why I'm not overly fussed about the quality of the logo as things stand, and maybe, as Aaron suggests, the whole thing could do with a complete makeover anyway, something fresher.
