Well, I can confirm that I get the same errors... it isn't directly related but came with one of the many recent changes. I'm currently fixing it.

Fixed in SVN r7942. Thanks for the report, r09 smile!

Here's an intermediate Windows x64 build: http://qmc2.batcom-it.net/download/win32/ (qmc2-win32-x64-0.183-SVN-r7940.exe/.7z, actually r7942 but I was too lazy to fully rebuild and rename it wink )

Also, note that with regard to system- and software-manuals QMC2 requires that the manuals are "scanned" before they can be used! This is mainly for performance reasons since the corresponding menu action is enabled/disabled according to the existence of a manual whenever the "current" machine or software changes.

See at the end of this section in the wiki:

Quote:
System/Software manual folder: these directories are the places for storing system- or software-manuals, respectively. Valid paths for system manuals must be named as <system-manual-folder>/<system-name>.pdf, valid paths for software manuals have to be in the form <software-manual-folder>/<software-list>/<software-name>.pdf. You can specify multiple folders by separating them with semicolon (;). Fallback to a parent's PDF manual is done automatically if there's no document for a clone-machine or -software.

Note that after applying the settings (saving the manual folder(s)) you also have to scan for system- and/or software-manuals explicitly - click one of the tool-buttons left of the folder-inputs to open the scanner:

This also supports multiple manuals if they were found during the scan (i.e. in different folders). This has been successfully tested on Linux and Windows. I suppose it will work fine on Mac OS X, too (I see no reason why not).

The default setup will open the system's default PDF viewer (for example Adobe Reader on Windows or Okular on Linux). You can also use the internal one (PDF.js based), but it's known to no longer work on Windows (I have no idea why), so better keep the default here smile.

I'm using your r7942 and the new manuals and device configurator seem to be working. Do you intend to support zipped pdf's, as distributed with EXTRAs?

A couple of unrelated issues that I've noticed for a few releases now:
- Title snaps show on the Title tab but only show a placeholder in the template on Notes tab. Could be related to this warning.
Code:
15:41:27.698: QtWarningMsg: libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile
15:41:27.698: QtWarningMsg: libpng warning: iCCP: cHRM chunk does not match sRGB

- try starting ZX-81 from the machine list and MAME opens in the background but I can't bring it to front to interact with it. Running zx81 from commandline works fine.

No, actually not. I have no control over the external PDF viewer, so I don't know when it's finished and the (temporary) PDF file could be removed again. That's a PITA in my opinion.

Well, some image files seem to have incorrect PNG headers... that's not unusual (and just a warning, by libpng).

That's unknown. Are you trying to embed the emulator or start normally? Does it *only* happen with zx81? Works cleanly in both cases on Linux at least (just tested).

EDIT: Both work fine for me on Windows as well! I'm using Windows 7 x64 (-video bgfx).

Or, more likely, it's caused by the newly added icons which I haven't "header-stripped" yet... smile

EDIT: Yes, these were unstripped:

Code:
data/img/classic/book.png
data/img/classic/kill.png
data/img/classic/no_book.png
data/img/classic/scan_manuals.png
data/img/classic/setup_database.png
data/img/classic/wizard.png

Corrected in SVN. Thanks for the info!

You can safely ignore the warnings, though.

I overlooked the other sentence "Title snaps show on the Title tab but only show a placeholder in the template on Notes tab."... let me check this.

Indeed, but only for (7-)zipped titles. I'll let you know when it's fixed. It may be a template bug, however, I also see it with the default template so I suppose it's a different thing.

OK, fixed in SVN r7944:

Code:
fix: system-notes: got rid of some MAME/MESS/UME leftovers (OMG!) which prevented titles from being displayed in system-notes

smile

It really helps when people test their use cases - and give feedback about it!! Thanks.

Thanks, can I get a new build to confirm?

Understand about the zipped pdf's, I expect the distribution will change to accommodate this.

I dug further into the zx81 issue and it works if I delete my zx81.cfg. Still an issue though, start zx81, tab and select Video Options then Keyboard Only. The MAME window is now lost and has to be killed. BTW I run MAME in windowed mode.
