Alright, I am relatively new to emulators and I am brand new to this forum. I just bought some Retrolink NES USB controllers. I mapped the controls fine everything works right except I cant go diagonally or aim diagonally which is pretty important for most games I play(Super C, Life Force, Jackal, etc...). Also when I try to go down or up it sometimes has a noticeable delay after press it before I will move or point in those directions. Am I doing something wrong in Nestopia or is it these Retrolink controllers? I am thinking of just getting the Retroport usb adapters to hook up my original NES controllers. Anyone know if these work better than the Retrolink controllers or vice versa?

I don't know of any reason in NEStopia that would happen. Diagonals certainly work for me with e.g. both X360 and PS3 controllers, so I'd be inclined to blame the Retrolink.

I have been searching around for a solution to this for days. I have seen a video or two of people using the Retrolink controllers and they were going diagonal fine, so I am confused. But i think i might go the Retroport adapters anyway...
