somewhere else entirely

He did question the size of my file; I guess some sources said that the nanoROM was 366x68 bits, but the visual dumps were smaller than that. It turns out that 366 was a typo for 336, and the visual dumps are the correct size.

Not sure where he's getting the incorrect/incomplete from. I personally dumped the microcode visually from john's and v6502's images, and from the extracted schematic where I vectored the active layer. Then I checked every bit that was different anywhere on the vectorization and fixed as needed. I'm fairly certain of the result.

Of course, once you have the microcode, the real story happens between the execution unit and the rom itself, where the ~90 signals from the rom are mixed with the current IR register to generate the 150-200 actual control signals. That's what I've been spending some time on since a while.

I bet it was the 336/366 thing that made him think it was too small. BTW- I did check the 11 diffs and yours was 100% correct.

Could you decap this one? (I mean, whether or not you're able to dump it electronically)

I wasn't able to figure out how to dump it electronically, but the decap went well: http://www.seanriddle.com/tms1000.html#xl25
It looks like they expanded the O Output PLA to the full 32 entries. I don't know if the ROM array is in the same physical order as on the PMOS chip.

The ROM ordering is different:
- row order is linear, 0-63
- bit order from the left, 7-0
- page order, per bit column, i think it's: 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0, 15 14 13 12 11 10 9 8

BTW, Olivier Galibert did a large update on MAME's disassembler. It supports paged layout and LFSR flow now, TMS1000 live disassembly is much easier to follow.

Nice. It's difficult enough for me to follow TMS1000 code! I haven't updated MAME in several months, so I'll grab the latest.

I put up the info on Gakken Invader 2000: http://www.seanriddle.com/tms1100.html#inv2k

I figured out how to electronically dump the TMS1370-28, and it matched my visual dump.

I didn't know how you will map the VFD segments to the 1370's R1-R10 outputs and the TMS1024's outputs, so I created a mapping table in the hardware description text file. If you have any questions let me know, or tell me what codes to put in the segment titles and I can add them.

I posted the Fonas 3-in-1 Sports info: http://www.seanriddle.com/tms1100.html#fonas3

For some reason I could never get the chip to dump electronically, but the die shot with top metal removed is very clear.

I didn't get the overlays, but it looks like Rik has them.

Yeah that looks clean =)
Could you upload a pcb picture of Fonas 3-in-1?

On the acid die of Fonas 3 in 1, 2 bits are playing hide & seek. I didn't know that was one of the 3 included games, must be a secret bonus game.
Are they visible on the pre-stitched photos?

fonas3in1raw.bin fixes:
offset $167: $E4 to $E5
offset $1A6: $00 to $80

That's wild. They aren't on the pre-stitched pics, either. I had to clean the die in nitric acid, and I accidentally let it boil dry, but the top metal pic doesn't show obvious damage in that area. I've started agitating dies continuously while they are in Whink, so I reduced the amount of time I keep it in there, and I reduce the time more when I have to clean a die in nitric acid first. But it look like I need to reduce it even more.
