There seems to be some kind of problem with ct486 and EMS as well, I couldn't get it to enable the other day in MS-DOS 6.22 despite going through the whole MemMaker process. I didn't see anything relevant-looking in the BIOS setup either. High memory is working though.

It worked with the same HDD on the at586 driver.

The cs4031 is mapping ram in the upper memory region by default for some reason. That confuses emm386 which thinks there's adapter ram there.

try the HIGHSCAN option for EMM386, it might help in such a situation
