And if they let you actualy DL the roms vs the subscription route, I promise you it would be crippled with DRM and restrictive License just like everything else that gets sold online. StarRoms had no selection and thats what killed it, period. This might not have been their fault however seeing as the game companies would've had to give the okay and most of them were dicks about it I imagine. My prediction is that Gametap will start whining about roms sites within the next two years. "Piracy!...Piracy is killing out industry!!!!!". Live with it I say. The emulation scene was here before you and it will be here after you.I pumped quarters and bought games for console after console for over a decade and I WILL NOT PAY ONE MORE CENT TO PLAY PAC-MAN! New games being pirated I am 100% against, but if its over 5 years old then its free game (no pun) as far as I'm concerned.

Just my 2 Cents, your mileage may vary....

Amen, Denzilla. Same thing here, only mine went on for almost two decades. The first five years was the biggest, but it went on until almost 2000.

Now's probably a good time to remove the links to StarROMs from the two locked sticky threads at the top of the board, as it's no longer there.

Done. I'll try and remember to pull it from my site, too. Plus if it's in the FAQ or Wiki, it should be removed as well.

Five years is a short span. I just paid $20 for Alice, that's a tad over 5 years old.
Pac-Man… I feel as you do - but look at what the Movie/Music industries do with DRM, extending old copyrights and altering the law (with their huge lobbying efforts) so they never expire. The legal landscape is getting worse, not better, for the public domain and fair use. Don't hold your breath.

Gametap looks interesting - but they don't support Mac. They do claim to be working on it though.

Unfortunately they've been saying that since last October, and unless business picks up for them a bit we might not see it anytime soon.

Gametap has an automatic membership renewal system: that's evil.
