Well, since Apple's being cheap and not webcasting Steve's keynote (again), you can follow along at MacRumors , among other places.

Since we totally missed the whole usual rumors guessing thing that goes on around here, we can just pretend we all knew what was going to be announced the whole time anyway.

Very disappointing. 2 x 2.66ghz processors in the desktop.

They SAY it's 2wice as fast, but I'd rather it just say freakin 3ghz. Why? Cuz I've publicly said I won't buy another mac until they hit 3ghz. So now i"m screwed for like another 8 months.

Unless I wanted to eat crow, which I don't.

To be fair, Woodcrest at 2.66 GHz performs similarly to a Pentium 4 at over 4 GHz. It should run Crusin' USA 60/60 with sound no problem, for instance.

according to the log on macrumors (and the picture on hardmac: http://events.macbidouille.com/img/dsc_0433.jpg ) it is a 2x dualcore 2.66GHz, so that is 4 cores in the basic model.

And there are BTO option to go back to 2x 2GHz and up to 2x 3GHz...

Yep, according to the tech specs page , there's a dual 3GHz Dual Core model available.

So I guess you're stuck having to buy one, Chris. Let us know how it works. wink

I ordered my 2.66 stock model... AirPort and BT will have to wait until I can order them separately smile

Whaddaya mean they're not webcasting it? There's a link to it straight from the very page you linked us to.

I meant Apple didn't webcast it live via QuickTime.

It's now posted on their website for viewing , however.

3ghz eh... any guesses on how that will treat our favorite emulator?

Looks like mahuti should be able to tell us before long. wink

BTW, Leopard is shaping up to be a nice little upgrade as well. Leave it to Apple to find a way to go back in time. wink
