OK. I ordered one. The 3ghz. Got a faster card too... says it'll take 3-5 weeks to ship. My money's on 6 weeks.

Tried to get an Apple credit account. They gave me 4k credit.... I *needed* over 5 to get the computer AND the 30" monitor so I guess I'll have to buy that later.

My business partner is going to do a spit-take when he sees this bill. Oh well. I told him I was going to do it. He'll really spit when he sees my buy the big new monitor too. Oh well. It's been almost 3 years since my last purchase. The duallie 2 has served me well. Time for it to pass to the intern.

Maybe it's time for me to sell all of my old iMacs.

Can't wait to hear how it performs. Sadly I just got a quad G5 at work a few months back (damn Adobe dragging their feet!) so I'll have to live vicariously through others.

odd - not geting sound for the WWDC keynote, but the stand-alone PC introduction to WWDC works just fine.

Figured it out - Audio MIDI Setup was set to 96000 Hz. Changed it to 48000 and it's working now.

Have you used one of these yet? We got one in at work and they gave it to me. I had it hooked up for about 2 weeks before I downgraded myself to a 23-incher. Maybe if you have the space and do lots of video stuff or something else that may need the real estate. But for my situation I found it to be overkill. And if you're working in a group, forget about any privacy. I felt like every email I wrote was being read by everybody since the giant 30" screen was being broadcast and reflected off the window behind me.

I work for myself at home, so I have no privacy concerns. I currently have one 23" monitor and a smaller 15 incher, and it still feels WAY too small. I build crazy web sites, and when I build stuff in Flash, for instance, I have a multi layer timeline, an artwork layer, actionscript panel and gigantic library pane open, and I'm constanly having to scroll around to get to everything, and it gets really old. If I could get a 60" monitor, it might still be too small. From day one with the 23" it was too small... great monitor, but my job requires something even bigger to be efficient.

I agree that you can never have too much screen real estate. For the kind of work I do, more smaller works better (lots of VMware and remote desktop sessions). I have four monitors on my desk at work, and I want to convince the manager that I need two more.
