I've been wanting to play Professor Pac-Man ever since I saw a photo of the arcade cabinet in an early-1980s issue of "Electronic Fun with Computers and Games". For the past twenty-odd years I've been searching for it in vain; this is the only game in the Pac-Man family that I've never seen in an arcade.

Then today I noticed that support for it has been added to MAME.

So I went and found a romset for it online, and played it.

UGH. Professor Pac-Man has absolutely nothing to do with Pac-Man. It's nothing but simple visual puzzles, like you're shown a graphic of sunglasses, and you have to pick which of the three other graphics is a mirror-image of it. Or you're shown: [image of tennis racket] is to [image of tennis ball] as [image of baseball bat] is to: (and then you have to select one of the three answers)

Playing it makes me feel like I'm back in high school taking the SAT.

lol, it's historically significant, though, because AFAIK it's the only arcade game ever written in Forth.

Yeah, just wait 'til the MAMEdevs add support for "Pac Man goes out on the Oregon Trail".

talking of awful arcade games, games like Logger http://www.mameworld.net/maws/set/logger really shows how important good programming is to a game. Imagine Shigeru Miyamoto handing his ideas and designs over to this team?!!?

What rolls down stairs alone or in pairs
Rolls over your neighbor's dog?
What's great for a snack and fits on your back?
It's Log, Log, Log!

It's Log, Log, it's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's Log, Log, it's better than bad, it's good!
Everyone wants a log! You're gonna love it, Log!
Come on and get your log! Everyone needs a Log!
