I think you're going to have to be more specific than that to get any help, you know like which of the thousands of playable games are you having issues with? Second what OS rev and what hardware are you using?

Too slow? I couldn't disagree more. MAME OS X 0.116 is really fast, in some cases even faster than SDLMAME 0.116u2 in some games on my set-up.

I am having problems with MKII and MK3. I use version 0.166, and I have Mac OS X 10.4.9 and a G4 processor.

What speed is your G4. I've just got the MK games running fine with sdlmame 116u2 on my dual G5 2.0 with -mt on and some of the openGL enhancements that are in the new sdlmame. Prior to this even with as powerful a computer as mine the MK games would slow down with certain bulids of mame, if I remember correctly these games don't run as nicely on PPC chips as they do on X86. I'm sure someone else here has a more in depth explanation, but I've forgotten the exact reason to this, it's just a price us poor PPC users have to live with wink

off topic I've also noticed that on the MK games when you resume from a save state the audio sometimes goes to pot, it's out by over one second, easy to fix just test the sound board and it'll work fine again, but defeats the purpose of having a save state.

I think problem with the MK games is the sound system. Just the sound off, it will run at full speed but I think con of doing would pretty obivious.

You know, I don't think there's a way to disable sound, ATM. I'll add it to the list.

not to sound negative, but I don't think it will help MK2 [1]: since MAME 0.93 (sound core rewrite) the -nosound option doesn't stop sound emulation, but only sound output. Therefore you have no way to reduce the workload on your CPU (while in MAME pre-0.93, it was a good solution)

[1] even if it's nice to know you're planning to put all the baseline options in MAME OS X! btw, this is the -nosound option wink

Ok guys, thanks, so basically, all I will have to do is wait until I get a new processor. Or a way to make it run faster. thanks.
