Hi,

For my first post I would like to thank you for MAME OS X, what a great port !
Keep it up !

Now the subject.
I've tested Virtua Racing on both OS X and XP.
Windows machine was running MAME Plus! 0.123.
MAME OS X 0.122 was used on the two Macs I've tested the rom on (an iMac C2D and a MacBook CD).
On OS X I can't get it work, look at this shoots :

Am I missing something ?
Is this issue known ?
Are 3D games incompatible with MAME OS X 0.122 ?
Is it fixed with MAME 0.123 build ?

Apple's compiler doesn't build MAME's Model 1 support correctly. This isn't specifically a MAME OS X issue (SDLMAME on the Mac has the same issue for the same reason), and 3D games on other hardware emulate fine on the Mac.

I'm searching for a list of Apple compiler's issues in MAME.
I found a mac-specific problem with Frogs and another one with the cheat system.

The cheat system is broken on everything right now, it needs a total rewrite.

Delete info about Frogs, also. My Windows-equipped friend got confused and was using 0.111.
This game runs too fast starting with 113u3, when two timing-PROMs were added. Digger is known to have a similar issue.

RB, is there any reason why this situation might change in the future?- or should we accept the idea that Virtua Racing will never be playable through OS X?

Virtua Racing is my favourite arcade game of my youth, and I'd dearly love to get it working.:(

Apple's not going to stay on GCC 4.0.x forever - once they upgrade, it's likely the problem will be gone (it doesn't show in any 4.1.x or 4.2.x versions on Linux/BSD/Windows). And in the meantime someone could always figure out the problem - the MAME source is all there, and someone could compare it's operation on OS X vs. Linux/BSD/Windows pretty easily. It's just a bit of a time sink.

Being completely ignorant of these technical matters, I would be willing to credit (via Paypal) $50 USD to anybody who can come up with a fix in order to play Virtua Racing (properly) through Mame OS X. The offer is valid for the period of two weeks, and I'll check this thread daily.

Thanks
