Capturing the RSP data stream would result in a logged format (with all the disadvantages that implies) that would still be difficult to play. It'd be the worst of all worlds.

I know it's hard to believe, but Richard and I do know what were doing ;-)

I have no doubt about that. smile I suppose the relatively-straight-forward SNES sound system put me in the mindset that there MUST be an easier way. But I'll stop my wishful thinking now.

I guess we can hope that the Windows USF guys will clean up their code one of these days so it's more portable. Doh, there I go with wishful thinking again!!

I actually agree. If the USF format was made more portable, there could be a chance we could get it on the Mac. However, the bad news is that the Windows USF guys don't know about the Mac that well. They would be Halley's Comet Software.

KungFuFurby, Bug Reporter for various stuff (somewhat)

Runs: Mac OS X 10.4.11 on a 1.8 GHz PPC G5

There's no "they", it's just one guy: hcs, or Adam Gashlin.

More importantly, there is nothing wrong with the format. The format does what it can within the realities of how the N64 works. It just happens that OS X is still an unpopular place to port stuff for various mostly-historical reasons ("Classic" Mac OS you had to be a masochist to program on a hobby basis, and the UI toolkits on OS X are still not a picnic). OTOH, I can easily see would-be porters reading the absolutely ridiculous abuse that Dave Dribin sometimes takes and thinking Bill Gates ain't such a bad guy.

It's called lazyUSF.

For the record, lazyUSF is 32-bit x86 specific. Not portable in any way except that it actually works (somewhat) on non-Windows.
