ETA: I'm looking to have a Linux preview of 1.39 sometime this week/next weekend. I made some good progress on it yesterday, the new input remapping's almost done. It's going to work similarly to the Windows original: you pick which input you want from a list (like "Player 2 Up" or "Start rewinder"), click the "Remap" button, then press whatever combination of keys/joy buttons you want to map to that action before a 5 second timeout ends.
lovely

the
blog pic also shows nice video settings, will we be able to set the fullscreen aspect ratio too? at least horisontal stretch:
- original (1.14:1) no stretch, almost square-looking
- tv ratio (1.33:1) slight strech, already works with garbled NTSC filter but not with HQ Scales
- monitor (1.60:1) atm HQ Scale x4 on common laptop res 1440x900 gives 896 pixels tall picture which is pretty sweet, but it's a square picture

Since LCD has fixed square pixels, you can't go wider without involving more pixels - because of its narrow pixel aspect ratio, many NES/SNES/PC-Engine games were created narrower than normal assuming non-square pixel CRTs would stretch them into correct wideness, IMHO most of these games can be comfortably streched further than TV ratio which would make gaming on a widescreen monitor more enjoyable, especially in multiplayer (in that case: 1024x896 vs 1440x896 picture)
