If someone wants to try their hand at fixing the issue, feel free. It's probably just something stupid like the savestate registration being in the wrong function. If nobody gets to it tonight, I'll fix it.

Looks like MESS has sync'ed to very recent MAME then. Grab my latest updates from MAME, as there was a bug which could cause that to happen if a memory region were installed at a particular time.

I've just tried with SVN 6776 and it is fixed for the cdimono1 driver...but i have quickly tried genesis driver and I have a similar error :

./mess -noautosave genesis -cartridge "ATP Tour Championship Tennis (U) [!].bin"
timer_alloc() called after save state registration closed! (file src/mess/drivers/genesis.c, line 84)

As it becomes OT, maybe I could open a new thread or simply log a bug ?

Timer allocation is still broken in a lot of drivers and they are fixed one by one. Should be okay within the next few days.

Genesis fixed in r6779.

Micko and I have fixed many broken drivers.

The remaining ones (which are beyond my meager capabilities) are:

prof80, c65 (and clone), coco (and clones), gameboy (and clones), nc200.

A specialist will need to fix them.

gimme one hour to compile a debug build and I'll take care of c65, if I can fix it without converting the video chip to be devices (something I was planning to do, but only after 0.136)

otherwise, it will have to wait a few days because the conversion to device is not trivial in this case...

EDIT: Thanks Micko for the fix... my debug build was still linking when he committed the fix wink

No point in putting up a download, all it did was decode a DYUV image from an external binary file that I pulled out of the emulated CD-i's RAM using MESS. It's not automated or anything. smile

There should, however, be configuration switches that will allow you to enable and disable the two graphical planes and also matte them against a solid color. Hopefully that will help.

I need to get off my ass and pursue chip info again. Too many good ideas and not enough free time. frown
