I have tried Virtua Racing on both MameUI 0.135 on Windows, and on MameOSX. On MameUI it runs almost flawless, on Mame OSX huge parts of the landscape are missing.
Are both 0.135 versions not the same from an emulation perspective?

it's a bug in the apple compiler (or a weird combination of a quirk in the compiler with some line of sensible code). this is the only known difference between MAME on mac and MAME on linux/windows (there were also outrun slowdowns but they've been fixed)

Thanks for clarifying this. A pity though!

More accurately Apple's x64 compiler doesn't have the same bug as the 32 bit ones smile

Do you need to put SL in 64 bit mode to run SDL mame, or does it work on 32 bit mode as well?

I'm running Virtua Racing SDLMAME in 64 bit and the graphics look all screwy. I noticed in the log that vr-tgp.bin NEEDS REDUMP. But I'm pretty sure I have the latest romset, and multiple ones I've tried have this same problem.

EDIT: Here's an example of the screwiness: http://twitpic.com/u34id
It seems to be spinning around at rapid pace and the cars all do weird things...

That's normal, it's the same for everybody. That's what the warning messages are there for.

You should see a warning when you start the game that tells you about incomplete video emulation and missing ROMs.

ROM NEEDS REDUMP means that someone needs to re-read one or more ROMs from the actual PCB.

Ome:

64-bit SDLMAME (and other 64-bit apps) work fine in 32-bit mode in (Snow) Leopard.

32/64 bit modes in Snow Leopard only refers to kernel and drivers. It's perfectly capable of running 64-bit code either way.

So has anyone gotten it to display the graphics properly then?
