Nearly there, xml reading is working, selecting software and software parts from the xml files is working, just need to actually load the data; gonna have to hack around in romload.c a bit for that

I am terribly sorry judge , I don't like to bother my favorite MESSdev, I guess we should make another thread about that. Until then, just in case someone missed this: how are you going to differentiate home-brew softwares/hacks designed for real hardware and those designed for emulators among the tens of thousands of home-brew softwares/hacks? Is that even possible?

That's easy. 99.9% of the software we're talking about came out before 1995 when there were no emulators. And a lot of us were alive and using those computers at the time, so we *do* have some expertise there.

Hell, there's a few people in the emulation community who were members of cracking groups, for that matter.

Heh, I totally forgot about one of the most useful bits of information: whether the game is working or has gfx or sound issues.
That should definitely be added.

That should definitely be added. Indeed, the flags are one of the reasons why you'd want lists in the first place, so people know what the expected compatibility is, and if they should report any bugs. No point in telling me Fatal Rewind on the Genesis is broken, I know

The working state should be trinary, or at least have a "not set" value. I'm sure lots of games will be added but not all games will have been tested for workingness, these should be set to not tested.

Default is working, if the game has not been tested it should not even be in the list.
