it seems a problem in ini/cfg savings or in MESSUI (or a combination of both). do you happen to know which code is responsible for saving the path of the last mounted image (I don't have here my eeepc so I cannot experiment with the windows layer)?

I did know once, but I've since forgotten. I'll take a look.

At one time I did also make it that MESSUI saved the complete ini file instead of the differences, however something must have changed. Another thing to look at.

I'd like to know why a softwarelist cart load is mandatory though, that needs to be gotten rid of.

it's not mandatory indeed from command line (I keep alternating list and old-style loading for testing purposes). but I guess the UI somehow misinterprets the ini options that get saved and thinks you have to reload from the list...

Checked newui and it all works fine there, so it is something messui-specific. I'll look now, was just fixing something else..

on the subject of your cassette changes, can I suggest that 60 seconds seem a bit too much? while I agree 1 second does not help, 1 minutes seems overkill... especially in view of the fact no original tape drive was able to skip 60 seconds at once (to further speed up the emulated tape, Insert makes wonder, but directly skipping so many seconds in the core seems not a good idea) wink

Hmmm... I'd like to have FFwd/Rew implemented, at least in the oldui, with a sort of auto-repeat i.e. as long as you keep ENTER pressed the tape counter advances or decreases, and when you release the key it stops.

In newui, there isn't really much choice, unless you want to keep calling up the menu and clicking rewind. It was faster to unmount the tape then mount it again.

Oldui is another matter, it is separate, and 1 sec is quite viable there, just as long as enter key can be made to autorepeat. If you can fix the key, then i'd certainly agree 1 sec is fine.

Yes, messui certainly has issues, the printf i added shows it writing files that it shouldn't touch. Need to look more tomorrow.

new clrmamepro

added: support for mess software lists (either as hash/*.xml file or via -listsoftware output)

Woo! Now it just needs to be hooked into the UI.

I've spent the past weekend rebuilding sets and checking that all sizes/crc/sha1 were correct (and that all included sets were available).

the support is pretty good, as long as you first batch create the directories and run the first scan/rebuild as explained at my blog and in the MESS User Manual (otherwise you have to manually create and setup a lot of folders) smile
