What kind of music gets you into that zone of concentration where you tune out everything else and just focus on what you are doing? Please, list specific songs, genres, and artists. I am looking for music to get because where I normally study is quite noisy and I want something to tune out the noise and help me focus. Thanks in advance!

I like the Kirby's Dreamland 3 OST. Almost any level bgm is fine with me. Also good are the dungeon backgrounds from Valkyrie Profile.

All this in endless loop, whenever possible.

Streets of Rage - Beatnick on the Ship
Streets of Rage 2 - Revenge of Mr.x

Endless loop serves me well for the deep coding sessions (at work, not studying though)

If I had the money to spend, and had to study in a noisy environment, this is what I would buy.

I use the Sony MDR-NC40s on plane trips and other noisy environments and they're quite nice for much cheaper than the Bose.

I have a set of QuietComfort 2s that are disintegrating after too many trips when I fell asleep while leaning on one or other side of them. They were great though.

I've read a few articles suggesting that most music reduces your efficiency during study, but for some material fast music can help. Although personally I'm a big fan of strings, chords, synth and piano so I knock on FFX/X-2(!), a bit of Clannad, Debussy, Scriabin, some Yoko Kanno and maybe Tekken Tag and Prodigy for the fast bits.

Also tried experimenting with binaural beats to get into a more relaxed, focused mood - "sbagen" works quite well on my Mac from the command line. Can't say much about whether it helps or not, yet...
