1. the NDS uses carts.

2. as I said, it doesn't support nds and GC.

Ok...either way, what would be the path to use inside the ini file? I have no idea how to edit it, or how to do it correctly.

otherwise stated: docs are pretty clear, so don't expect us to be an helpdesk

if you have specific problems after you have read the docs and tried the instructions contained there, then we can discuss again...

You edit the ini file by doubleclicking it, Notepad will start up. I'm not going to say how to use Notepad, you will need to work that out yourself. Then follow what etabeta and abelenki said.

In general you can put software where you want, MESS doesn't really care. A useful setup is this:

MESS folder
-- software folder
---- system folder (for example "gbc")

You can then start a game then with:

mess gbc -cart software\gbc\zelda.zip

(assuming you are in the MESS folder when typing this)

For the Windows UI, you can select the software path in the properties of each system, but I can't really help you there as I don't use it.
