ThunderClock is a uPD1990AC. Should be pretty simple.
IIe auxiliary slot cards with > 64K (e.g. AE RamWorks) are possible, I think.

Speaking of auxiliary slot cards, what about the video cards that went in that slot for driving digital RGB monitors? Are they well-documented?

I'm not sure what's to emulate with those given they didn't add any video modes or capabilities. I mean, by definition you're already running MESS on a much sharper monitor than anything you could use an Apple II with.

Is MESS emulating the native NTSC (or rather slightly-off-standard NTSC) video generation, with associated artefacts? If not, I guess it's already emulating an RGB monitor...

There is no color on an Apple II without NTSC artifacts, so of course MESS emulates it (there's a monochrome mode too, or at least there used to be). I would assume these RGB boards did as well, like the IIgs RGB output does - otherwise you would've been far ahead on money to just use a high-bandwidth monochrome composite monitor.

I thought the RGB cards just detected the bit patterns for each of the supported colours when colour burst was enabled. You'd get "fringes" and all that, but you wouldn't get the effects of comb filters, etc. in an NTSC television.

Given hi-res artwork was frequently done with the fringing in mind, a simple color mapping would almost certainly look bad. Would be nice if someone that had one of these RGB cards would speak up either way, although I imagine they didn't sell many. Meanwhile, the ROMs for the Mountain Clock and Thunderclock are 403 Forbidden on the Apple II Documentation Project so I can't implement those yet. I shot the contact address an email, hopefully he'll fix things up. I added the AE RamFactor clone of the Apple Memory Expansion card; couldn't figure out how the 5 MB expansion is checked yet so it's limited to 1 MB still, but we'll see

RamFactor cards now have 8 MB per slot instead of 1 MB.

r14878 fixes more deep hurting in machine/apple2.c caused by it not wanting to have user-selectable slots. 80-column mode works on the IIe/enhanced IIe again, AppleWorks runs properly on the IIe/enhanced IIe, and 5.25" floppies work on the IIgs again. ETA: And boards in slot 3 now work on the II/II+ (they were trying to lock it out in favor of the built-in 80-column circuitry as the IIe/IIgs do). This will allow emulating something like a Videx VideoTerm for those machines in the future

CFFA2000 in IIgs slot 7 to boot the IIgs off IDE harddisk images? Coming very soon. (I believe this is the first time any IIgs emulator has allowed arbitrary card emulation - KEGS and XGS certainly don't do it). ETA: available as of SVN #14868. I ran with a Memory Expansion Card in slot 4 and a CFFA2000 booting System 6.0.1 off an IDE harddisk in slot 7 and copied files back and forth between the IDE device and the RAMdisk with no trouble, so I believe the support is stable. Wow, this is great! I'm gonna play with this ASAP.
