Having a little trouble. This system starts, but all I get is a screen full of @ signs. No files appear to be missing, but audit reveals that file "a2.chr" (2048 bytes), which is part of the BIOS file, is bad. Does anyone know where I can get a good copy of this file? I downloaded it from BrainKiller's MESS BIOS page.

NOTE: There are known issues with this system.

Which Apple II model? The original "apple2" doesn't auto-start (which was true of the real hardware as well), and you may need to hit reset (F3) a few times to get into the Monitor. If you just want to run software, use the II Plus or IIe or IIc, all of which auto-start.

With an original Apple II you should see a screen full of @ signs and and * at the bottom of the screen where you can type. At the * prompt, type:
E000G
This should give you a > prompt, you are now in integer BASIC. To boot a floppy disk, type this command at the > prompt:

All true, but someone unfamiliar with that who simply wants to run software should use one of the autostart models instead
