Has Sega's SMGP been dumped? I heard it's encrypted so can't be emulated but is it possible to emulate the sound alone in M1 (or are the sound ROMs also encrypted?)?

It'd be cool to compare the arcade version to the Megadrive/Genesis version (which had some cool tunes).

SMGP is dumped, but the z80 dump is questionable so it doesn't run in M1.

Aye, SMGP is supported in AMUSE, but it behaves incredibly strangely, playing different tunes everytime you select an address, and playing most of them as corrupted.

I havnt thought about it in ages though, a redump should be trivial, I'll chase one up...

The music is ok, but totally different to the Mega Drive version, whether this is a good thing depends on your taste, but I've found the only listenable tune ever on the MegaDrive to be Streets Of Rage...

Great Megadrive tunes include Thunderforce IV, Wiz'n'Liz snow level, some of the SMGP tracks (Concentration is my favourite). There's more too but I'm too busy to think!

I like the music in Ristar and Pulseman personally. But I've made a promise not to use the antiquated GYM format to listen to them...

Zero Wing is where it's at for Megadrive music :p

The YM3812 version of Zero Wing (in M1) is a slightly better arrangement (just set it to the "Open Your Eyes" track - you will eventually recognize it ;-)

I prefer the music to Dynamite Headdy myself.

Me, I like most of the Sonic 2 tracks, a couple of the Sonic 3 tracks (I haven't met anyone who doesn't like the Ice Cap theme), and some of the Megaman: The Wily Wars tracks (namely the game's title theme, an original song for the game).

I prefer the Megadrive versions of the 3 songs from OutRun...they feel more upbeat than its system 16 counterpart (especially Magical Sound Shower). It's a true demonstration of the Megadrive's Z80 and YM2612 sound core capabilites.
