Can someone who is not incompetent please fix the softlist hookup in the N64 driver? I don't know and don't want to know who screwed it up, but what I do know is that I can pull the vast majority of .V64 or .N64 or .Z64 or whatever ROMs off of the 'net and they'll at least boot and show something, whereas even something common like Mario Kart 64 just shows a black screen when you use the softlist entry for it (mariokrtu).

The softlist is probably one of the primary reasons why everyone seems to think the N64 driver has horrible compatibility, and I'm sick and tired of getting crap for it as a result given that I'm the de facto N64 maintainer. Please fix it.

you'll have to be more specific if you want any help

Code:
./mess64 n64 -cart sm64u

works like a charm here...

he claimed the whole softlist is screwed, while it just seems that whoever split the dumps consisting of two files cannot compute the hex offset of the second half of the game

EDIT: otherwise stated 7 games were broken due to softlist issues, the rest is all due to the driver itself wink

I'm happy to see there's more people interested in having a working N64 driver. From previous threads, I thought the only interested ones were JD, Richard, me, and perhaps two more, I don't remember.

That a pretty narrow view of basing interest level on only public inquiries or improvement requests.

I'm sure everyone here has interest in improved emulation on all fronts even if they might not be vocal about it. The best thing to do if you cannot help the situation directly is sit back, enjoy the ride and "Wait for cool things to happen".

There's a lot of ways to help. Testing and documenting is one of the best for those who do not have programming skills wink

Also, this thread have some information about how to help project reporting bugs and regressions: http://forums.bannister.org/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=79358#Post79358

Yeah, don't confuse "patience" with "lack of interest"...
