Now that I've actually had a little time to actually sit down and look at code, I've been back at work on the web UI. I've now got text pasting working, though it seems to still be a bit quirky.

It works, but I still need to do a little looking into how capitalization is handled for pasting in MESS. Also, I'm not entirely happy with putting it in a side panel so I'll probably look into adjusting that before I submit the new code.

After I've got the pastebox stabilized to my liking, I'll look into text uploads. There are a LOT of security implications involved in that, so I'm going to have to be very careful.

Expect the basic text panel submission within the next day or two.

Sent in the diff just now. I'm still feeling a bit uncertain about the UI for it, so it may go through tweaks later. Suggestions and comments are most certainly welcome.

As it uses the same text pasting system as the internal local pasting that's already in MESS, it handles caps changing the same way: probably not at all.

I still have extreme reservations about file uploading in terms of security, so it may be awhile before that can be implemented as I really need to make sure there's a safe way to handle this. The very LAST thing I want is for there to be CVE reports for MAME/MESS with my name on them.

I'm fairly sure MAME/MESS can be coaxed to do pretty terrible things just with the existing .ini files and whatnot. This is why I get a little freaked out when people say they're running it sudo or admin-equivalent.

This is not specific to MESS, but how shall I access the WebUI from an external device, e.g. my gf smartphone?

Access to the UI is actually pretty simple. Set the desired port and enable the web UI from the .INI file, then direct your browser to the location in question. (e.g. I'm using port 8080 from 192.168.0.10, so I'd send my phone to http://192.168.0.10:8080/ )

I tried last night, but my gf mobile did not access that port... might it be that I need to open the port for the firewall somehow?
