Thanks Mr. Do! The early G&W:s doesn't require as much work as the later games as the number of segments to ID is lower, the graphics is relative simple (and therefore easier to vectorize), they are single screen games and there's no memory ROM to record and rebuild. The hardest part for me has been to get the the input mapping correct for the SM5A games when writing the MAME driver. Hap has been very helpful there. Hopefully I'll master that some day smile

Only games based on the SM511/SM512 has a separate melody ROM. In the batch of games received from you, unfortunately Mario the Juggler is the only SM511 based game. I will do my best at dumping the melody ROM electronically which will not damage the unit. The melody ROMs that I have read out are marked as bad dumps in MAME and will require either a decap, which permanently damages the unit and requires special equipment and knowledge, or that we develop a better method of dumping the melody ROM electronically.

Game & Watch: Flagman has been preserved in MAME smile

This is the second game in the series and sports an SM5A MCU. Here's a screenshot from the game:

Thanks to Mr. Do for providing the game, Sean for shipping the game to me and scanning inlays and pcb, and hap for helping out with an issue getting the inputs setup correctly!

Yeah, the behind the scenes stuff is pretty neat.

I've uploaded Flagman and although you can't really tell by looking at this, I've updated the previous few games (Ball, Vermin, Helmet) with a better model.

Thanks to Hydef for all your artwork, it really makes the games come alive! And thanks to Hal3000, Hap, algestam, Sean, Ryan, and Mr.Do for continuing to supply and dump the Game & Watch games.

Hydef, the new artwork is wonderful, but the shine (white oval) on the top of flagman bezel seems too intense. Can you tone down a little?

Thanks again!

You're probably right. It's a bit too much. Thanks for noticing and for the comments.

This artwork is beautiful. When you're done with Game&Watch, would you consider making artwork for other handhelds and computers/consoles, please? smile

Cheers. If I had the resources for other things, I might do some other handhelds but I don't and it's a big ask. But this reminds me that I have a nice DMG Game Boy bezel almost done somewhere in this same style. What stopped me from finishing it was how to accurately do the screen and set up a shader. I see RA (probably a banned word here! :D) has one but I'm not sure what MAME can do.

I love how you can see even the small dots of the screen's external layer in these artworks. [insert lots of applauding emojis here]

When I re-do all of the Wide Screen games I'd like to include those bubbles or whatever they are for effect but I just need to be sure they should be on every game. Does anyone know? It's hard to tell with pictures online.
