yes I can light up the VFD so long as the other parts are present. That's how I been doing the vfd captures so far; I wire them up so all the segments light using the power supply on the game

I have some questions about the status of the V-Tech G&W Clones. Are there technical hurdles like exo-blob and similar or do i just need to wait until it comes to those games of V-Tech?
Thanks in advance smile .

Regarding V-Tech, I've only examined one unit ("Water Polo") and that game didn't have an exposed chip but instead the MCU was covered by an epoxy blob. It could very well be SM5x based but I don't have any more info than that.

Ok, that is sad to hear. I have no clue about the real afford and work on that problem, but i have the hope that it can be solved smile . It would be nice to see those three screen games, even if they do not work/interact like the G&W ones, they still follow a story at least. So the three screens are more or less three independent games with a common "theme".

u-man, you only need to send the V-tech game to one of the experts here to analyze (SeanRiddle??). Until they have one of the games to disemble, they can't do anything. If it is a known chip or MCU, they can decap it or do whatever they did to the G&W titles.

But maybe they cannot do anything and maybe the games breaks. It is a risk.

@simzy39: thanks, but i already did exactly this (three or four years ago) and just wanted to know how the status on v-tech games is and if it is a somehow impossible dump.

Alright folks, if they still haven't been dumped yet, I have managed to acquire a purple Judge and the alternate music version of Mario's Cement Factory. Also the Helmet in my current G&W collection appears to be a CN-07 version. I'm happily willing to donate them in order to help out with video game preservation.

I believe this is what the board should look like for Helmet. I was able to perform the 2 characters glitch on it.
