http://i.imgur.com/mD9UEje.gif for a screen shot/capture. I am confused why I can't play it in my MAME v0.176 in my very old, updated 32-bit Windows XP Pro SP3 box. Clrmame Pro says its ROM files are OK? Am I missing something? frown

Thank you in advance. smile

Spy Hunter has a number of device references (15) and one of them (midssio) needs a ROM which you probably don't have!?

Thanks. That worked. I wonder why both MAME and CLRmame Pro didn't tell me it was missing that dependency file.

Well, MAME will tell you this when you try to launch it by printing a corresponding message to the console (stderr):

Code:
rene@marvin:~/src/mame-git> ./mame64 spyhunt
82s123.12d NOT FOUND (tried in spyhunt midssio)
Fatal error: Required files are missing, the machine cannot be run.

Interesting. Windows GUI client needs to do the same.

I'm sure it does. You just need to start it from a "command prompt" (cmd.exe) or through a front-end that somehow logs this information to see it. QMC2 has an "emulator log" for this which keeps all messages to stdout and stderr.

Yea, MAME's WIndows client should log this somewhere.

There is no difference between the Linux, Windows or Mac OS X versions, actually.
