Is it possible to place cabinets, pcb, cpanel etc .. directories out of mame directory?
I tried by editing snap directory but apparently works only with snapshots..

Any hints?

Fire up mame, select "Configure Options", then select "Configure Directories". Most of those should have separate configurable directories. If you prefer editing text files look in ui.ini (mine is in ini/ui.ini).

I have all that stuff on another disk, so yes, it's very possible.

Thank you for the response.

I'm making a batch file which automatically download new mame version and import ui.ini from old mame directory to new one, because I want all ini, dats and png data centralized on a outer directory.

However I've noticed that, in a odd way, snapshot directory is present on mame.ini.

This does not make sense to me, since should be present on ui.ini

Do you agree ?

Snapshots were a thing long before ui.ini was invented, so all the old things are in mame.ini instead.

But, logically speaking, snapshots setting should probably get moved to ui.ini

It’s because the snapshot directory is actually an output directory for saving snapshots/videos that the UI happens to re-use, while the others are just for UI assets.
