Is there any information out there about being able to dump internal mask ROMs from H8 MCUs? I know that the EPROM/flash variants have a program/verify mode, but it's not really clear if that can also be used to read out the mask ROM variants.

I don't have any that I'm really itching to dump at the moment, but I'm wondering if it'd be worth trying with the one in the Casio FD-1 just in case it'd be useful for dumping more interesting devices in the future.

I don't think anyone's tried that, so it'd be good to know if those are dumpable.

Some variants taken from gambling games are getting set to someone to try and dump them, but I don't know if there are concrete chances of success. So having more people attempting it would be good.

the gambling ones are Flash parts IIRC, and all previous attempts to dump them have yielded empty results even following procedure, so those ones have some kind of readout security fuse even if it wasn't mentioned. I'd assume the mask ones do too, so no guarantee they'll dump using standard methods.
