Hey again.

I'm about to buy a used geforce 5700 for use
with ZiNc...is it good enough? Right now I'm
using an Radeon X700, with good results.

So, when I use the renderers, Direct3D or openGL
where should I put them? in the main folder by
the .exe, and only the one I want to use?

Thanks!!!

Nicholas

Err, an X700 should be faster than 5700 I would think, but I don't have the benchmarks all memorized. And yes, you put the correct renderer where the .exe is and rename it as renderer.znc.

Yeah, the X700 is faster, especially once you get into pixel shader 2.0 stuff.

Even the 9600XT is faster than the FX 5700.

Yeah, but is it better for the games in zinc?

That's the only thing it will be used for!

It's not like you're trying to run Half-Life 2, these are effectively PlayStation games. You'll see absolutely no improvement in ZiNc by replacing a video card that is already more than powerful enough.

Yeah - anything DX8 class (Radeon 9x00/GF4Ti) or better should never have any problems with ZiNc. If the X700 isn't fast enough for you, it's probably actually your CPU.

Yeah:)

Please listen. I have an X700 in my NORMAL PC.

I'm looking for a card to use in my CABINET.

Then I thought that SINCE these are OLDER games,
I might as well use a cheaper geforce 5700!!

There's NO problem now, but this is not the machine on which the games will be running. What I need is a card for the machine that they WILL be running on. So I just wondered how LOW I could go, before taking a hit.

Nevermind, I will buy a 5700 and see if I it changes for the worse.

Well, you could have said that in one of your first two posts!

Geforce 5700 was an industry disaster, the worst engineered video card, I'd prefer a FX 5200 over it (i have it right now anyway smile and i m not in a conidtion to upgrade to a better one) But i DID return my GeForce 5700 the second day I bought it. UT2004 sucked on it. It might work good on ZiNC though, but still if you are willing to spend some money on a new vid card, just add some more money and get a bit better one to get ready for some good games in the future like *cough* *cough* tekken tag :p

impact used to run fine on a tnt2. Although there are more demanding games now.
