It is a 3.5" HD 1.44mb disk. I don't know if it's alright to link to one of the disks here or not, but I can.

I think maybe it sees that because it's a mixed format disk. It has a boot sector for a 720K disk but after a few copies of it, it goes to another format. Maybe I need to use another format other than PC.

Hmmm, not sure anymore, rereading the code 250K seems to be HD.

Is this one of those weird disks where the boot sector is FM but the rest of the disk is MFM?

I dumped the disks using Kryoflux and it indicated the entire disk was MFM.

250Kbps is DD, 500Kbps is HD. If it's a disk with different rates on different tracks, you're not going to be able to load them as a raw pc floppy images. It'll have to a type that supports that like teledisk, IMD, MFI or whatever format kyroflux uses.

It looks like IMD and MFI are not supported by Kryoflux. I still have their stream files but I haven't bothered to send them to SPS for processing into IPF since they apparently don't do that anymore. I sent them about a dozen or so back in 2012 and never heard back and they stopped responding to my email 2 years ago. Any other ideas? Or am I dead ended at this point? Thanks.

Wait, this isn't a pc floppy controller is it. So unless there's a register to control the bit rate, you'll need to call m_fdc->set_rate(500000) to read an HD disk properly.

Good idea. That actually changed the response, which is still an error unfortunately.

[:pdc:fdc] :pdc:fdc: command done (data) -[:pdc:fdc] 44[:pdc:fdc] 90[:pdc:fdc] 00[:pdc:fdc] 01[:pdc:fdc] 01[:pdc:fdc] 09[:pdc:fdc] 02[:pdc:fdc]

Looks like it's trying to access data past the end of the disk now.

How much data is it trying to read? That is to say, what is the initial count programmed into the dmac? The fdc reads until it reaches EOT (which is apparently what is happening) or TC goes high.

It's trying to read 512 bytes. The DMA controller is programmed to read 0x1ff words.
