AFAIK there is not even a single photo or mention of this 81 unit, the Spanish version people know is the later "Super' version

It might appear the MCU is the same as ones previously dumped (or maybe not). I will surely dump the VSM's shortly.

Note the unit was sold 'not working' I'll probably try to fix it due to its rare status.

http://www.datamath.org/Speech/ElLoroProf.htm <- isn't that the 'later' super speak and spell from 1991 (both are tsp50c series based); IIRC there are two 'types' of super speak and spell, one with a more squarish case (1989) and one with a case closely matching the original speak and spell (1991). The mcus and lcds on the two are different; the 1989 lcds are 2 lines (and tend to die, have a poorly designed contrast knob next to them which is easy to destroy), 1991 are 1 line.

Spanish Speak&Spell has a CD2701 MCU? Then the chance is very small, but not 0%, that it will still be playable with another snspell MCU rom.

hap: given that the keymap is completely different and there are added letters which do not exist on other speak and spells, i'm guessing it will not work, though it might work partially sort of like cd2702-expecting roms did on cd2701

As far as I know, "RR" has never been considered as one, unlike "LL" and "CH", which were finally downgraded to digraphs in 2010.

I remember RR in the spanish alphabet when I was a kid, but they are no longer there.

They are still used for certain phonemes, though.

Seems the Spanish S&S didn't work for a reason.
The first VSM in the address map (CD2319) [0000;3FFF] is toast! So no word decoding can take place.
I tried my 52XX and 51XX dumping setups to no avail, dump is semi-consistent garbage over multiple tries with bit density changing at each 0x100 byte frontier.

The second one (CD2320) [4000;7FFF] does work though, I can play some phrases/words from it using my dev tools.

Both CD2319 and the CPU will go to decap then, there is 0 chances of this ever working again.

Now we just need to track down a German "Buddy" and I think we'll have all of the regional variants of the Speak & Spell tracked down...
