Well.
Seems the Spanish S&S didn't work for a reason. The first VSM in the address map (CD2319) [0000;3FFF] is toast! So no word decoding can take place. I tried my 52XX and 51XX dumping setups to no avail, dump is semi-consistent garbage over multiple tries with bit density changing at each 0x100 byte frontier.
The second one (CD2320) [4000;7FFF] does work though, I can play some phrases/words from it using my dev tools.
Both CD2319 and the CPU will go to decap then, there is 0 chances of this ever working again. There is a possibility of resurrecting it! Optical dump the dead/ESD'd VSM, and use a pic-based VSMulator to replace it in vsm address space. I'm 99% sure it will work then. LN

Sean about COP400 MB's Plus One, can you tell me how you distinguished the rombits visually? It has a COP410, like the Funtronics games, but in a smaller package so the pins necessary to electronically dump it weren't available. So I used the Funtronics Jacks pics and electronic dump to figure out the bit order. I found some bad bits, but it doesn't change anything with the emulation. Plus1 locks up rightaway whether these bits are changed or not. I will look into it again when we get the Mattel games playable(these run on the same COP400 model)
certain bad: bitmap x,y= - 687, 1325 - 875, 17
maybe bad: bitmap x,y= - 1673, 2067 - 2798, 17 - 2844, 17

There's not a lot of history of failure when you dump stuff, so those assumptions are typically valid ;-)

Interesting, Coleco h2b Basketball is actually a multi-game, so to say. Depending on pin IN3 and G1+IN2, it acts as either Basketball, Soccer, or Hockey.

LN You are also assuming the MCU will work after decap, or that I will be able to live dump it! Well, I'm assuming the first thing we'd do is decap the dead VSM, optically dump it, and hack up a VSMulator PIC on a tiny daughterboard in place of the dead VSM. That way the speak and spell should actually work, unless the MCU is also damaged. Once that is done, we can try electrically dumping the MCU, or live-decapping it. LN

Cool! I figured they just shared the same PCB, not the same chip. I wonder if anyone figured that out back then and made a multigame? I'm surprised I haven't bought H2H Soccer or Hockey
