I've been busy at work, but got an email from a guy who put the TMS1000 into an FPGA and ran the Simon code:

Oh good, I don't have to sacrifice my Garfield... smile

Tandy Hold Up is originally Bandai Bank Gang:

(In fact, anything from Tandy/Radio Shack is originally something else, they didn't make any of the games they sold back then...)

Same thing with Sears (they didn't make anything, it's all licensed), Electronic Basketball is Tiger Half-Court Basketball:

(Just notes for completeness... smile )

Yeah, I'm watching for cheap Konami LCD games. I can't think of a way to dump the ROMs without de-globbing them. It's possible that some of them might have all the necessary pins available with just a little de-globbing, but it would be real easy to break a bond wire.

I've found that the licensed games are often cheaper on ebay than the "brand name" ones, so I usually go for those.

I'm thinking the GI chips in Digits and Basketball are likely PICs, but haven't had time to check the pinouts.

I got Coleco Zap today- it's got a 16 DIP marked ITC 8000. Don't know anything about it, but guessing it's an ASIC like Simon.

Someone pointed me at this LCD game a few months ago: "Catch-A-Coke". I "guess" you could call one version of it coin-operated? I didn't know it was an LCD game until I started looking into it.

There's also a normal handheld version of it too.

Yeah, I have those... The handheld game:
http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Bandai/CatchACoke.htm
Is a game by Bandai called 'Monkey Business' with the LCD replaced with one that has Coke cans instead of coconuts. The handheld CPU is likely a blob...

The Vending machine unit is basically a larger version of it, and it has a normal chip in it:
NEC D7502G 139
Is that one that can be dumped non-destructively? I can probably loan that out if it's dumpable...
'Kaken' is written on one of the circuit boards. I've never been 100% sure who that is, although an alternate spelling of 'Gakken' seems to make sense. smile The LCD still says 'Bandai Electronics'.

There's also a 'Spell Coke' game which seems to be a unique module just for the vending machines. I have that one too.

Here's a marketing video from Coke that shows off the game:

Here's some images of the Catch a Coke vending unit:

Oh, bummer... smile Well, at least we have access to the hardware, so if he figures it out we can get it emulated...

I'll open up the Spell-a-Coke game this weekend and see what it's in that one. At least get it all documented.
