I picked up a Radio Shack Pocket Repeat (62-2482) which is a newer version than the 2 on Handheld Museum. The chip is an 18-pin DIP, the Zilog Z8 Z86C04, dated 9520. This version has 1K mask ROM. I'm not sure if it can be electronically dumped; the Z8 supports external program memory, but this package doesn't have 13 of the pins used for that. There is also a ROM protect bit that might have been set.

While I have fond memories of "playing Simon", I actually only *owned* a Pocket Repeat. Emulation of one would be awesome, for nostalgia purposes

I got Tandy Sports Arena. As Rik suggested on handheldmuseum.com, it has the same TMS1000 as Conic Basketball - MP0168 (so I assume Soccer and Ice Hockey have that one, too).

Hap previously noticed that Coleco Head-to-Head Basketball, Soccer and Hockey all used the same ROM.

I got a National Semiconductor Quiz Kid, the "owl" calculator with red and green eyes. I was expecting it to have an MM5799 (old COPS), but it has an MM5780, as described in the 1977 National Semiconductor MOS LSI Databook on Bitsavers.

I already had a Montgomery Ward P50 basic calculator with a MM5737, also listed in that databook. It looks like the chips are pretty similar, except that 5780 has the red and green LED outputs instead of segment outputs. The keyboard is connected the same, except the equals key on the Quiz Kid is paralleled with the minus key, and the "test" button is really the equals key. So when you enter 2+2=4 test, you are really entering 2+2-4=. So if your answer is correct, then the result is 0.

When I have time I'll decap both of them and see if they are customized versions of the MM5799 like I expect.

It's obviously a clone of Mego Fabulous Fred, but that one has 9 buttons instead of 12.

I've got FF on my ebay watchlist, so eventually I'll wind up with one. I assume that T12 is an upgrade of FF.

I got Mattel Soccer 2; the PCB and display looks just like Basketball 2, with dual COPS.

I have a Fred, I can loan it out if you think it's dumpable... Probably don't want to kill it though.

I'm pretty sure the Computerized Arcade (Tandy 12) was made in that same design by another company (I keep thinking Gakken or Tsukuda, but I can't find it there...) I know I've seen it sold by someone other than Radio Shack... Gakken made Fred, so it's possible it is there's, just the next version or something.

If it has a TMS1100 rev B or G, I can dump the ROM and O output PLA electronically, and the instruction PLA is almost certainly standard, so that would be enough to emulate it. If it's a TMS1100 rev E or TMS1000, I can only dump the lower 7 bits of the ROM. I can ID possible jumps, which gives a lot of the high bits, but we'd have to guess the rest through trial and error, and try to figure out the O output PLA by watching what the code does.

If it's a GI PIC1650A or PIC1655A or NSC COP4, I can dump it electronically.
