I have both of those calculators actually (the brown one and the blue one). Both are identical inside. I have the dumps but I have to find them.

Lord_Nightmare & I got a TSI Speech+ from ebay for decapping the TMS1000, should be posted your way soon. =) TMS1007NL AP7619 - 28 DIP TSI S14001A 7607 - 40 DIP 16K0-575 S14007-A GI 7621 - 24 DIP I dumped the TMS1007 and the mask ROM: http://www.seanriddle.com/tsispeechplus.htmlThe mask ROM in this unit is only 2K. Thanks to Robcfg for telling me about Fiji for stitching! I had tried a bunch of other tools with little luck, but Fiji is easy to use and fast. I've been trying to get another 1977 Electronic Battleship to get another MP3208 to decap since I damaged the last one. I finally picked one up, but it turns out it is different from all the others I've seen- this one has a TMS1000 labeled MP3201 CSP 7736, a 555, a 4016 and an LM324, along with a bunch of transistors, caps and resistors.

You're welcome, mate!
I'm glad it's of use to you, and it saves a lot of time.
Keep up the good work!

Wow, you found the oldest known version of Battleship then.

Whoa, that predates even the one with the sn76477, I think. That's a really rare unit!
We'll almost certainly need the schematic of the 555/etc stuff to do discrete sound. Also, PCB pictures, please, both sides if possible.

TSI Speech+ is emulated and working.
I saw the K8 line going round the pcb on the pictures. I tried it in emulation and it looks like it's set when battery voltage goes low. The display will show "L" on the left digit, and says "Low" when the speaker button is pressed.

LN: I'm still pretty busy, but I'll scan the Battleship PCB when I can and let you know. I'm a little surprised it was cheaper to move to the SN76477. hap: I missed K8 going through the ribbon cable. I found the word by manually toggling the inputs to the TSI speech chip and it sounded like "low", but when I analyzed the mask ROM, it starts with the same phoneme as the "w" in "swap" and not the "l" in "overflow".

I uploaded the Battleship info and ROM dump: http://www.seanriddle.com/tms1000.html#bship77aThe ROM dumps is 2/3 the same as for the version with the SN76477.

Thanks, it's added to MAME, but without the discrete sound emulation.

It's dot space # # space # # space dot.
I got the 1979 Electronic Battleship- it's the ASIC like LN's:
4750 SCUS 0462 .H 8012
And the same cost-reduced switches.
I'll decap it and see what's hiding in there. But that means I have to get another one to get those missing TMS1000 O PLA bits. So far, I've gotten a 1977, a 1979, a 1982 and 2 talking versions. I decapped (badly) one talking version, and I'm trying to carve out some time to try to electronically dump the other one. Decided to open up my Electronic Battleship and it matches that description, except is labelled MB4750 SCUS0562 .4H 8202 The serial on the back of the PCB is "7924750E02 REV.0" and "HCT-4 94HB". Comparing it to LN's photos, it also only has one LED and some resistors and capacitors have been moved around. Are photos wanted?
