I’m seeing that Minitel terminals are missing on MESS/MAME (and the closer we have there are home computers that could be used as Minitel terminals, which i think isn’t enough).
How soon can we see them included?
Thanks in advance!

As soon as someone writes a driver and submits it.

Minitel servers were shut down in 2012. So what would you do with a Minitel terminal now?

Serious question...

I remember a similar discussion when people asked to revive BTX in Germany.

As i see it, one can't even test the emulated terminal without the long gone, pre-Internet dial-up services Orange (Telekom in Germany) offered.

Sounds similar to England's Prestel service. I don't suppose anybody managed to dump the roms in one of them before they were all thrown out?

Asking questions like 'when' isn't really going to get you very far.

If resources are available it will happen when somebody with an interest and knowledge of the code base finds time to do it. If resources aren't available, it's not going to happen.

As for remote servers shutting down, it's a real problem for many situations. Unless the remote server software can be found too it's simply not going to be the correct experience. MAME is going to need some kind of system to simulate server behavior for a lot of cases, provide simple basic responses to at least show the systems run, but a lot of the time you're going to end up with minimal functionality at best, just enough that the various codepaths in the rom for the system can be triggered.

The IBM / ITU-X.25 based backbone of Germany's BTX appears to be extinct, though a user wrote a non-interactive PAD (page assembler device) for Atmega2516:

http://www.runningserver.com/software/bildschirmtrix.tar
http://btx.runningserver.com/
https://www.forum64.de/index.php?thread/45116-btx-server-selber-machen/

Mind that all business logic is lost (and backups of real BTX pages in their original form, too).

Early BTX used Prestel-Minitel encoding on clients, so there are * some * similarities.
O. Galibert noted Minitel also had 1200/75 baud modems. At a metered connection, it was an expensive and slow experience i wish i could forget mad

OG also noted this page: http://hxc2001.free.fr/minitel/ with hardware info and an EPROM dump from a Minitel terminal.

Speaking of early telecom in France, the '1970s Cyclades network ran on Mitra-15 computers (see http://rogerdmoore.ca/PS/CIGALE/CIGALE.html) and "except for a teletype, no other peripheral is necessary."

There's a technical manual for Mitra-15 on Bitsavers, so if Cigale software ever turns up, it should be possible to run it.
