Before you begin on DM53 LCD, I hope this will be useful. Olivier Galibert created an svg of it around 3 years ago when we were getting started on G&W emulation. http://tsk-tsk.net/net/temp/dm-53.svg

Thanks. I haven't started working with those panels yet, but I did take pics of DJ101 under the microscope that turned out pretty well: http://www.seanriddle.com/dj101lcd10k.jpg If I'm lucky, ML102 will turn out this well.

That DJ101 picture is better than I would've hoped you could get off an LCD. Good luck with ML102!

I had a try at identifying Donkey Kong II(JR55) segments, and was surprised it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. It's more or less playable now, just needs a proper SVG. This is what it looks like https://imgur.com/a/rQ4aY

Sweet! If someone has a working game that they could loan, I can pull the LCD, take pics, and put it back together with no damage.
Do you think there are still SM5 emulation issues, or did the ATPL fix solve everything?
I took microscope pics of ML102 and DM53. The 2 DM53 panels aren't as good as DJ101, but they are OK. ML102 didn't turn out well; there's just not much contrast. I'm not sure if the variations are due to manufacturing differences or storage conditions. I've tried polarizing and color filters with no luck. I wonder if darkfield illumination would work if I could separate the 2 pieces of glass. I assume a phase contrast setup would work, but I don't have that.
I drew up a couple of PCBs to help dump the G&W LCDs with the same quality as the Konamis I did. Unfortunately, there are a lot of variations in the connectors, unlike the Konami games.
What's the cheapest place to get PCBs made these days? These are pretty simple; single-sided, about 3" x 4". They just break out the LCD connections to header pins. I'll cut out the area behind the panel so I can illuminate them from behind.

I think there are still a few SM5 bugs, but nothing major. Right now I fixed the ATR opcode, it corrects sound output on SM510.
Can you upload DM53 and ML102 LCD pics?

Actually, if the seams would be aligned, it's not impossible to work with it. I'd keep that work for last if you've run out of options.
