Yeah, Fiji had a hard time stitching it since the contrast was so low; I was surprised it did that well. And that was over 3000 pics stitched together, so doing it by hand is out! If I adjusted the contrast first, stitching might do better.
The microscope pics show the common and segment "traces" (from H1-H4 and a/b1-16) as well as the segments themselves, and where they overlap it's sometimes hard to figure out exactly what would be displayed.

Did you try contacting Madrigal? He might have some pics of the LCDs he took to make his simulators that could be usable.

ssj: I already emailed someone(author of handheld Flash simulator) regarding Donkey Kong II graphics. If that doesn't work out, I'll try asking Madrigal. Thanks for the suggestion. **edit* I received the source code of his simulator, btw it's from http://www.boxofchocolates.nl/ * Off-topic: Ken Shirriff reverse engineered the 76477 "Space Invaders" sound effect chip from die photos thanks to Sean Riddle. http://www.righto.com/2017/04/reverse-engineering-76477-space.html

I read that page, but it doesn't sound like he RE'd it in any way that's useful to us.

Well, we know roughly what the circuit inside it is now, but we still need actual current and impedance values, characterisation of the output amp, etc. before we can get Laser Battle to sound right.

Here's the svg with segment id's for Mickey & Donald: http://tsk-tsk.net/net/temp/gnw_dm53.svgand for Donkey Kong II: http://tsk-tsk.net/net/temp/gnw_jr55.svgNot counting the missing foreground/background, both appear to be fully playable. Sean, do you need help with ML102? It will be harder than these 2 games, but I can try identifying LCD segments.

I can easily ID the segments that aren't on the broken connectors. I ordered PCBs that will let me get good shots of DM53, ML102 and JR55 (if we get the LCD for it) and hopefully others. PCBWay was cheap enough that if I need other layouts I can make those later. I've also got the foregrounds/backgrounds that I can scan.
